Default Another New Guy

Greetings Y'all,

My name is Marty (Martin if you must), I live with my wife in Georgetown TX, just north of Austin. I have long been interested in metal shaping and finally decided to do something about it.

I do not have the budget for hot rods or old cars but I do have a '52 Lonestar aluminum boat that I hope to restore soon and get on the water with.

In years past I have completed a 1 year study program in the Machine Tool trades and have dabbled some and realy enjoyed welding (esp. torch and brazing).

My primary interest in metal shaping is for art projects, maybe some simple repairs or fashoning of a piece to meet some one-off need. I enjoy finding solutions to problems especially if I get to adapt some item or piece of scrap to a new and interesting purpose.

lately my big inspiration is to see if I can produce a handmade, custom vanity sink bowl out of brass or even copper for an up-comming bathroom remodel project. I figure why pay several hundred $$ for somebody else's mass-produced sink when I make learn how to make my own and have truley unique piece when I'm done.

I am looking forward to lurking about on the forum and soaking-up some knowledge.

Have a blessed day,

Marty
