I've bought a 50 year old Lotus Elan frame made of large box sections of 1/16 inch sheet metal with some 1/8 inch crossmembers and uprights supporting the springs and wheels.
The frame must be straightened a bit and lengthened 4 1/8 inches to fit an earlier Lotus Elite body and modern engine, etc. With little experience, I may try to do the metalwork myself or give it to a pro.

Hi John,
Welcome to the forum. The chassis doesnt sound like an Elan chassis they are made of 18g sheet metal, not box section, the way you describe, can you post a picture?

Thanks for your interest, Martin.
Problem is Nubies don't know what "box section" means. My Elan frame has a central rectangle of thin metal about 2' x 5" x 10" which fits between driver and passenger and has a "Y" on either end to support wheels and springs. I'll try to figure out how to post pictures before asking specific questions. Jon

Yes, Metalmodr, that is it exactly, except mine's not quite as straight and doesn't have an engine yet. Thanks.
