Default Hello from Oklahoma

Hello everyone. Found this site from some google searching. Took a look around and liked what I saw.

Been interested in shaping for some time. I'm not entirely new to aluminum work, having done airframe repair in the USAF. But, to be honest, the bulk of what we did was with a cornice brake and box-and-pan brake. We did have a slip roller and a foot operated shrink and stretch machine, but it didn't get a whole lot of use.

In tech school we did a project where we formed a small panel with a slight "S" shape in it over a wood form, which we also had to make. That was a lot of fun.

Anyway, I hope to learn some new things and take on a few automotive projects.

Welcome to the site, looking around these sites you may get the impression that you have to spend a small fortune on machines before you can make anything. That is not the case, you can get started with just a couple of hammers and dollys and a few simple home made tools. working with aluminium (UK spelling) is no problem but you really need to gas weld it because tig welds may crack when you dress them out.
