Hi all,
My name is Tim Backhouse. I am an accountant from a city of 40,000 people in the south eastern corner of Australia. I have built a 1964 Bolwell kit car, if I get it right I will attach a photo. You should remember that 'kit cars' were very different in 1964. E.g. the build manual consisted of one sheet of typed paper with no illustrations. The installation of motor and gearbox were covered by one sentence in the manual, "fit motor and gearbox of choice". No mounts, no recomendations, just selling the dream. The car is space frame from 1" Nickel Bronzed tube (yes Oz was imperial in those days) the top is Fibreglass but the bottom half and internals are stressed with aluminium. I bought the kit from a farmer who lost the body and stored the aluminium clad frame in a chook shed. For those who don't know Chook s..t and aluminium don’t mix! The short story is I redid all the aluminium, and I am mighty proud of it. The only bit I didn’t do is the double curve on the bottom half of the wheel arches. So for my next project I don’t want to be restricted by an inability to work aluminium into the shapes I want, have already gained much as a visitor and looking forward to participating. Tim

Hi all,
thank you for the warm welcome. Here is a pic of my car, I think I have got the posting rules right. Regards Tim MVC-102F.JPG Ok - heres one I got off the web of under the bonnet- I didnt take the picture or name the file! (and I dont know how to rename it:) rd09 so many details to delight the eye (1024x683).jpg So the eagle-eyed will notice the bobo just in front of the left hand side of the firewall, before the battry box. I turned the rounded edges of the tank inspection hole in with a mallet and a chipbord former, but found the hole was 10mm to small when I needed to remove the the inspection plate some years later! The angle grinder surgery is still to be fixed!
