I live in Kentucky and am in the process of restoring a 1948 Globe Swift aircraft. The airplane is in rough shape but hopefully I can bring it back to life eventually. Most of the sheet metal work needed is simply disassembling, cleaning up, and re-skinning the components. I can handle most of that and have a pretty good amount already finished. However, there are some areas that will require some metal shaping beyond what I have experience in, and this forum looks to be a good place to lurk and learn. Thanks

welcome. Sounds like a fun project. Swifts are a good looking airplane. Are you going to add a stcs for gear doors, etc or leave it original.

This particular airplane already had a 210 Continental on it, so I will probably stick with that. I got a field approval to close up the wing slots and put on a different cowl, and have a STC'd stick control kit on order that I plan to add. Otherwise I don't plan on changing much. I also have a flying Swift now that is pretty original except for a 145hp engine.
