Default New guy from Canada.

Hello Folks, My name is Tone. I'm from a small town called Arthur, about an hour west of Toronto. I am a hard core car guy and I have a plate full of projects that I will finish all of as long as I live to be about 135 years old. I learned to weld so that I could work on my own projects & not have to wait for someone else to help me. I always want to learn more & add to my skill set.

I am hoping to learn to use an english wheel and related equipment to start making my own complex parts. I have made simple stuff so far like battery boxes and suspension brackets but I want to get into sheet metal more in depth. I work in a stamping press shop every day & I see the presses mass produce car parts but I want to do it by hand.

I look forward to picking the brains of the more experienced guys on here and soaking up a lot of information. I am probably going to be the sit in the corner & listen guy rather than the run my mouth type of guy so I may not post too much.

Here are some pics of my current projects. My dad has been a car guy his whole life too so it was kind of pre ordained that I would be too. The Model A coupe in the pics is our current project. I have somewhere around 1000 hours into the metal work on that car & I have learned a lot from it. for anyone interested, here is the build thread on the HAMB, there are lots more pictures of it there. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=348159

Welcome to the site Tone, you have a lot of cars there. I can never get over the space you guys have in Canada and the States. I guess thats cos I live on this tiny little overcrowded island. (UK)

Welcome to Allmetalshaping Tone!

It's always good to meet another local, I'm located in the Flamborough area just north of Hamilton. It's been a while since I was up in Arthur, I used to go skydiving up there back in the late 80's. I may have even seen your place from above while I was trying to find my way back down to the ground!

Just in case you're interested, we're going to be having a metalshaping weekend over here on the weekend of May 7 & 8. You are more than welcome to drop in and meet some of the local guys and check out the equipment if you wish.

See the details here:

Enjoy yourself on the website.

Ken

Welcome aboard.
I'm guessing you like Malibus.

Hope you can make it to the meet.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

Kenb, I joined over here after I saw your post on the HAMB about the metal shaping meet at your shop. I hope to make it to your meet. It will depend on work & family commitments. I have spent a bunch of time in Flamborough, that is where the race car I crew on is based out of. Do you know Jamie Cox? He lives at the Kirkwall intersection & is the owner/driver of our stock car. I am the fabricator for the #44 car. We ran several seasons at the Flamborough track and the past two or three seasons we have been running at Ohsweken speedway and we are currently the thunder stock champions there.
