Hi Kent,
Thank you for your inquiry. The upper and lower tool post hold 3/4" tooling by way of a "collet" type system. I say "collet" type system because we also use three knurled cup set screws to that tighten against the tooling. I will be honest, I am not familiar with the Spanish Gairu. My personal Recip Machine was the first prototype Dake built, with Anoka Input of course and I have never had any problems with tooling loosening.
