1935 RR 20/25 Coachwork style Gangloff replica body
This is a new project I am starting. A few years ago with the help of Scott White helped me scan an original 1935 Bugatti T57 with an original Gangloff Drophead Coupe body I was restoring. Scott gave the data to Will Cronkrite who did the Solid Works data for the bucks and waterjetted parts needed. The plan was to build 5 of these bodies and put them on an original chassis with different drivetrains. I have another one started that has a Jaguar XKE motor and chassis and a Jag rear and have the body framed out in ash. I had a customer who saw the finished Bugatti and ask me if I could put that same body on a 1935 Rolls-Royce chassis, so this thread is on about this car.
The hood had to be modified because the radiator is 6" wider and 4" higher than the Bugatti and the chassis for the RR was 7" higher so the substructure had to channeled over the sides of the frame and the firewall had to be cut. The trick is keeping the proportions the same when done with a RR grille shell.

That would be a great project to be asked to do.

After spending the day and evening working in his shop with those eye-frying lights, I don't think it's possible for him to close his eyes and make it dark enough to sleep...
As always, the best by the best- no disappointments. Thanks for posting, Jim. Very cool.

Sure looks good, Jim.
Proportions can be a headache to deal with. I guess keeping the RR shell is a "must" - sigh. Not an ideal shape to lead what follows behind it, in any proportion. At least the churn is shorter than other choices. Unlike Deusey. If chassis is higher, then tires are larger? And fender openings need proportions, also? Gangloff had some nice coachwork moves. I think they used loop hood hinges, and not folded? I used to walk by a row of Bugattis, with two Gangloff in the long row. Nickel plating? Nice windshield frame and stanchions - new castings? Firewall looks cast ... You got a source for those? I like those "beeper bumper" face bars. Fun exercise to repro while holding the little gang of openings quiet. Good to see this pre-war type of work, again.
