Default Ken Sakamoto shrinking disc

Hello, I am wanting to purchase a shrinking disc and was told that Ken Sakamoto of Sunchaser Tools, is the guy selling the ribbed stainless shrinking discs. I found his phone number in a listing he posted for earlier in the year and called him but the number is no longer connected. I am not on Facebook or any other social media so I have no way to contact him in that way. His website is also down.

Does anybody know the best way to order a shrinking disc from Ken. If not, does anybody know another shrinking disc that works as good as his?

Thanks for the help.

No problem. The phone number I have for him does not work. Just wasn’t sure if he changed numbers or retired. Regardless, thanks for the reply.

A couple of google searches for Ken Sakamoto and Sunchaser Tools doesn’t throw up any recent results, they all date back quite a way, so he may well have retired. There’s other shrinking discs available so there should be something out there for you. It’s questionable whether the ribbed disc offers any real advantage over a plain one as I think it could all be about technique.

Hope that helps.

I have seen some recent post on Facebook, so I think he is still active.

I’ve just heard the serrated versions work faster, but I have no experience with either. Who else makes a good shrinking disc?

The disc that Ken is / was selling was originally developed and marketed by
Scott Knight, and the last time I ran into Scott was about 35 years ago at
a seminar here in Chicago at Fran Roxis's restoration shop. They probably work about the same ( I have and use both types) but the impression one might get from looking at the ribbed design is that the ribs could help knock down some of the "smaller" bumps faster at the same time as heating them up. Just contact
one of the current dealers or developers, such as Wray Schillen ?, and buy one of theirs. You will be glad you did , and none of these guys put out poor quality products and also have their names attached to them. My 2 cents....

I use Wray's as well and very happy with them.

I use both the 5" and 9". Strangely prefer the 5" as can use it one handed and get into tighter areas.

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.

Default Corrogated disc

I have an old corrogated disc I got years ago. Never use it because Wrays works better.

I sent Ken a message on FB. He posted recently so perhaps he just changed phones. I'll let you know the response.
