Show me your custom dashes,and consoles

HEllo all,

Been dreaming about ideas for the 68 c10 cab and body. Currently in design phase. The CAB will be the first effort, so was wanting to see some modified ideas.

What I have in mind is shaving and cutting out main cab dash details, , rolling a tube buck/frame, that will roll into the doors. The dash will resemble an old corvette dash with two eyebrows, a 57 chevy inspired gage cluster etc.

Im still working on designs, but wanted that old 50's feel as Johnny would say.

What do you guys think?

I have only attached hinges and getting ready to hang the doors, so I can set gaps, and start shaving the dash, drip rails, hammer form firewall, No chop or suicided doors, but need inspiration.

Other plans include tank relocation, pancake front hood, emblem removal and turn signal shave, welded rear fenders, shaved steps, custom bed mods, frame and suspension mods, front roll pan vs. bumper, and all the usual extras.

I actualy own a 70 C10 and a 71 CST C10, the dash I am posting is in a 62 chevy But it nay help with some idea's on your C10

At this point the panel has been welded.

Now with proud of the weld ground we can manipulate the panel and plannish the welds to relieve the heat effected zone.

With the panel plannished you can clearly see the stress is practicly gone.


Next I have to round over the edge so it fits in it's new home.

That looks like its going to be a really nice dash!! But, I hope this isn't a stupid question Im kind of new at this... Why is the panel in your first picture made form three pieces instead of one piece? It looks like you did shaping after you joined the pieces together...

Both left and right dash panels are three pieces, but are some what finished on both sides which make it a bit difficult to see the seams. I am a bit better at making them is sections when I have nothing to start with.
I could have used a flexible pattern to copy the other side , but I wasn't sure I was satisfied with what it looked like yet. I still make a bit of a scrap pile trying to make up my mind weather I like my Finnish product.

I have a project I have to do first, before I can get the cab going.

Im working on a dash for my 69 vw squareback. I have a donor dash panel to work from and am going to wire,and mud the "buck" with plaster and bondo.

I really like the style (lines of this one) for my 69 vw square back project.

I plan to make something similar, but different if that makes any since.

Off to start forming rod for mockup.
