laser welding
I have been watching this technology for a few years. IPG has joined the game and their system looks credible. IT also will do cleaning of metal. Magical results if you pony up the $20k for the machine.

I've been pretty familiar with the Rofin-Sinar machine developments - and they made some fine detailed welds that were nearly invisible to bare eyeballs.
Good to see the industry has embraced the real serious next levels.

Yup that's a laser welder. I've bought one I set up to use on a robotic arm for a friends company. I had a cool machine vision set up to auto identify the part that was placed on the welding table but that extra bit of light burned the cameras up after a few thousand hours.
not as handy as it would seem. running it automated you really do need an X ray machine to inspect parts as they go out if it is in any way dealing with a safety device. Human welders just add a layer of quality you didn't realize until you couldn't find any who wanted to work.
