How to make a fender with hand tools only...the Tommasini way
Peter Tommasini did an excellent photo essay on shaping a fender panel. It is really well done and clear. We decided to make it a sticky.
Peter also posted a youtube video of working on the same fender. Excellent stuff! Admin __________________________________________________ _________________________________________ This work was done with no machine of any kind apart from the English wheel where used to make that piece ..or the whole guard for that matter. No shrinking or stretching machine No bead rollers No plenishing hammer or any other machines Simply just a blocking hammer, stump, Sand bag hammer and dolly, Slapper, pair of pliers (for the wheel arch edge) and a tuck fork, etc I hope this short video will help someone just starting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB2BDEXfd7Q Here's some pictures, it might help you and save you some time in guessing. Follow the writing on the pictures and on the pattern and you should be right. The sequence should be from start to finish. Let me know how you go. Cheers Peter SAM_4176.jpg SAM_4177.jpg SAM_4178.jpg SAM_4179.jpg SAM_4180.jpg SAM_4181.jpg SAM_4182.jpg SAM_4183.jpg SAM_4184.jpg SAM_4185.jpg SAM_4186.jpg SAM_4187.jpg SAM_4188.jpg SAM_4189.jpg SAM_4190.jpg SAM_4191.jpg SAM_4192.jpg SAM_4193.jpg SAM_4195.jpg SAM_4196.jpg SAM_4197.jpg SAM_4198.jpg SAM_4200.jpg SAM_4201.jpg SAM_4202.jpg SAM_4203.jpg SAM_4204.jpg SAM_4205.jpg SAM_4206.jpg SAM_4207.jpg SAM_4209.jpg SAM_4210.jpg SAM_4211.jpg https://youtu.be/FIoge_zNREo I made another video showing the progress on my fender And one of my problems with the tuck shrinking. Here's some pictures, it might help you and save you some time in guessing. Follow the writing on the pictures and on the pattern and you should be right. The sequence should be from start to finish. Let me know how you go. Cheers Peter

Nice tutorial Peter,
Well explained, even I appreciated the refresher. I might have to print it off and stick it on the walls for our next meet.
