66 Ford
I am new to the site. I am here because of this car. I made the roof buck in ply but found it limiting to complete the job with out modifying the buck. I started goggling and here I am. Great site with tons of skill. I want to make the rear/front bucks in wire so I can fit it to the car. I have been asked to put something up ,this was started 8 weeks ago. I havnt made full panels before just sections but I am learning fast.

Roof buck This became limiting when the flanges for the door seals had to go in. I had to modify the roof trusses this is when I realized the advantage if wire form bucks. The flanges I folded then used the shrinker /stretcher. They are welded in.

Sill were very easy. I put a section of inner tube around the top wheel and rolled the profile. I purchased x6 new 3" and 1" wheels early in the job as my 3 wheels where leaving marks due to excessive crown.

Inner skins on the roof wheeled out.
I used 3m panel bond to adhere inners to outer pillars and the inner lining. I dont know if glue is a no no on this site but it on this job panel bond is magic. When it was assembled I foam cored the roof and pillars.

The doors have been a mission.

the upper inner roof panel I tried to simulate was is their but not to exacting detail.
I then made the roof skin. I have made the pillar skins but have not got pic. I have the other door to do but I think I will make the rear wire form buck first as I need a break before I start the second one. Im glad its a 2 door. I will keep posting over time.

I have made a long profile gauge out of 4 gauges.
Wire bucks I have looked at a lot of pics and get a good idea how to go about it. I am thinking 5 or 6 mm wire should be enough. Some members are using heavier. Any advice is welcome. Jim

Jim, thanks for posting the pictures of your GT-40 project. Looks like you are making good progress on the body. What aluminum alloy are you using, 5005?
