COnnecticut Metal brake
Guys,
I know a guy that has a Connecticut 48" box brake for sale, it's located in mid MO. It's a model U426, has all 16 fingers, form 3/4 to 4" wide. It's in better to fair condition and comes on a heavy stand. Just PM me and I'll give you his name and number and you guys can deal and work it out. |

Ron, the Connecticut brand is Roper Whitney's made overseas brand. They are very good quality and work well. I had one of the 8 foot brakes.

thanks Joe.
I know little about it, other than it's in good condition. The guy just can't work anymore (bum leg) so he's selling off some of his tools. |

I have a Connecticut model U322. It was manufactured by W. Whitney Stueck, Inc. in Old Saybrook, Conn. It is an older machine that was in the school shop where I taught so it was made in the late 50's early 60's. I bought it at a school board auction along with a lot of other equipment that was in the school where I taught. I do need to buy/make some fingers that were missing.
It looks to be identical to a current Tennsmith brake. |

The stuff that I want, I'll have to wait and butter 'em up first. There's a model T 'speedster'/'modified' with an overhead valve conversion in the shed that I've been eye ballin'. He's owned/built it in the '30's.
He' still buildin' stuff, he just is getting rid of stuff that he doesn't use anymore. |
