Extra slippery lubricant ???
Little Franky punched a bunch of 3/16” holes in 24 stair tread adapters he made for me today. He was having some troubles extracting the punch from the 1/8” metal, using the weight & play in the punch handle to sort of bump / hammer the punch out of the metal. We have been putting cutting oil on our punches but it’s a choice only because it’s handy being it’s always on the nearby drill press. I’m just wondering if there’s some tricked out super slippery lubricant we could be using to ease up the extractions of the punch ? Thank you. ~ John Buchtenkirch

I use way lube for necking up/down tubing.
Seems to work well. Ron

Try some STP or something similar but here's only so much you can do with lube especially after metal begins to build up on the sides of the punch. There needs to be more clearance between the punch and die.

No personal experience, but a Tool and Die guy I knew liked to grind a slight concave above the cutting edges of the punch for just that reason. Delayed the onset of sticking.

I've broken some small whitney -jenson style punches on extraction.

A lot of punch machines have a "crows foot" that holds the material down while the punch is pulled though.

Cleveland punch and die sells a punch lube that helps with the process.

I used some of the lube from Cleveland . Make sure that you wipe it off when done using the dies and punches . It rusted my dies like they sat in brake fluid.
I use high-pressure lube grease now . It is messy and needs to be applied often.

Polish the back face of the die. Less friction on the way out.
