Thanks Dane. The '37 Coupe Express had a pretty rear end compared to GM's offerings. I'll finish the RF guard, then I'll be into it.

thanks for sharing the process with us.
Thanks Steve. The front end is more '39 looking, but the grille makes it a '41. I'm hoping it'll all tie together in the end.

Started on the deck. Found that they can supply an oversize 1.6mm sheet. It's 1534mm wide, so that gives me some leeway to get enough grooves across the width. Made a die for the nibbler, and with the help from my brother Richard, dragged the sheet backwards and forwards to get the desired outcome

Once we got to the full operating depth of the fence, we had to clamp the sheet to the top of the fence to get the last three runs.

Took my parts to a friend with a set of folders capable of bending the 1.6mm. Got the floor, headboard, sideboards and top hats folded up

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.

Nothings welded yet, as I'm not copying anything, I need to make sure all the components will fit together

This is the die I made to use in the nibbler to produce a corrugated profile. The single tooth die is the top and pushed the panel steel into the lower die with 5 passes. The closer the bottom teeth, the steeper the side angles would be. I lost around 2mm in width with the finished pass, so minimal stretching was happening. The only issue is longitudinally where there is a bow in the sheet, but I'm thinking that when the top hats are welded in place, it will disappear.
