Default How To & What Tubing Does Runge Use

I've watched several videos showing the cars Runge has built and it appears as though he is bending (aluminum) tubing that is basically the shape of his bodywork, and ultimately welding aluminum panels to the tube. Thus he has to be using aluminum tubing and it sure seems to be formed precisely to his varying shapes. I wonder: What tubing is he using, and method of bending to get the shapes?

Not sure, but those that aren’t following him, he has started a new series of Videos that are quite informative.

From what bits I know about using aluminum tubing for structures, I'd use 6061 T6.
I'd probably use the old water-fill maneuver, which works for bending up steel roll-cage tubing shapes, anyways.... at least in my neighborhood.

Mercury, serrobend, pitch, ice, and water are the ones I know, fwiw.
Incompressible pourable stuff - sealed tightly.

How do you seal the ends when using water? Sounds easier than sand. Are you doing it cold?

I have used mine for years to wedge old Roma clay to the proper consistency. It has become one of the most important tools in my studio- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtB5WYZ4_94
