The thing is- I like the mesh, Mike. How does the mesh look if the rear (narrow end) is set deeper in the vent while the mesh remains at current height at the front, maybe even with a matching wedge portion added to the bar(s) to follow the mesh?
If there's room to do this, that might significantly counteract the current big/small visual noise that's going on without losing the mesh. The visible horizontal wedge shape of the bar(s) combined with the receding perspective of mesh will also clarify at a glance that it's a real deep & functional vent, not just a trim item. Does this make sense?

Just finished reading this thread up to current and I have to say "outstanding"!
You should be very proud of the work you've done and also for your tenacity to keep going over the journey. Cheers!

I've been working on door latch and handle mounting. I want to be sure that doors open and close smoothly, without issue before the door skin is installed. Trying to get a nice fit for the handle was tough. Those vise grip style joogle pliers aren't the friendliest tools. But here is the result.

Mike, I like it as is. It's well detailed and obviously functional. Overdressing it will turn it into a focal point rather than a functional detail. Just my opinion but I think a high performance car should be all business.

Jack, I agree completely. I've got a couple of friends who share the same mindset. That is the shape of this car is the main feature. I intend it to be a "Pro street" (I hate that name) Road racer. To me that means minimal fancy, chrome or trim pieces. Maximum power, rubber, stance and attitude.
