So, let's make another update as I do have more to share!
The front and rear parts of the fenders will be adjusted on the car but they had a lot of holes from either bad fixes or accessories that needed to be taken care of and it's easier with them disassembled so: Driver's side: ![]() ![]() And fixed: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Passenger side: ![]() ![]() ![]() And fixed: ![]() ![]() ![]() And the antenna hole (my car won't have a radio, I love the look with the plate and only hear the flat 4-sound in my VWs): ![]() ![]() ![]() Bests Antoine

So, long time no update but a lot of work in the background! Since I will be finishing the bottom/front of the fenders when everything will be mounted/aligned, I thought I should start on the front mask. I know, it is available as a repro but where is the fun, right? So, first removing the rest of the air-boxes to have a good access: ![]() They will require a lot of work (or I will build new ones!): ![]() ![]() ![]() But focus is the mask first. Lots of small repairs: Before: ![]() During: ![]() After: ![]() Before: ![]() During: ![]() ![]() After: ![]() ![]() Before: ![]() After: ![]() Before: ![]() ![]() During: ![]() ![]() After: ![]() Before: ![]() During: ![]() ![]() After: ![]() Before: ![]() During: ![]() After: ![]() Before: ![]() After: ![]() What is left is the bottom part: ![]() But first I focused on getting it back in shape as it was completely out of form: ![]() Lots of checking: ![]() And trial mountings: ![]() It is starting to look good, at least good enough to position it and use it to mount the fender. So, I took the doors out of the storage to use them to adjust the parts under and around them but before adjusting on the car, I had to put the tube for the wiring harness like here on the orginal part:
![]() So let's start: ![]() But it has to go through the A post so I made a template: ![]() ![]() To get the position : ![]() And I made the fixations: ![]() ![]() And welded it : ![]() And some paint to protect it durably: ![]() ![]() Then it was time to adjust it: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And welding: ![]() ![]() ![]() Door fits well: ![]() And A-Post was next: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One day this will fit like that: ![]() But some more work left before..stay tuned, I am already further but late with updating! Wow! I just started looking at your project from the start. You have done a lot of work. Thanks for posting the pictures and the updates. I worked on one of these years ago. It was a really nice car. Your early pictures reminded me how the brake lines are routed in the tunnel. We had to make a new one and route it outside. I really enjoyed driving the car! The shop your working in definitely unique. It is crazy to me to see the old wood beams and the brick floor!

The space of that old building is inspiring. Only in such an environment do great ideas arise.....
There is no art in taking a large loan and being pressured by deadlines. Then all ideas and joy go away. Antonia finds it a great relaxation. He goes there to rest and rescues the desperately wrecked car. I think he already welded half the original weight of metal onto it. Keep it up Antonia, it's great. ![]()
