What are those clamps with the wing nuts holding together the slits? Looks like a handy addition to the shop, might need to get some myself.
Hi Tommy

I'm not sure what they are called panel clamps maybe.
Not my idea I just copied them from something I saw.
They are good if you don't mind having a gap in your panels
but I like to have zero gap when I weld 2 panels together
so I use these skin pins with a small plate on one or both sides.

Panel clamps

Skin pins with small plates

Hope that helps.

Is this the case? Let it shrink and deal with it?

I hear so much of skipping around a bit here and there but not really sure if it actually helps anything.
Hi Pugsy,

Yeah weld all the way and then work the shrink out.
I have never tried the skip around method but that may work as well.

Seems it would avoid the cumulative effects occasioned by a "weld it all, planish it all" approach.

Having said that, I'll sit back and collect more education!
Hi Marcus

Yeah I might have a go at that method at some stage.

Hi Chris,

The back part of the cab had 114.3mm (4.5") cut out and the front pillars had
125.11mm (4.92") cut out, why the difference in size? because of the front pillars having the angle on them so trigonometry comes into it.

How fare into your build are Chris?
