Pato1: They’d be struggling pretty bad if they produced them at the same slow rate as I do!
Unfortunately, this brings me to my last update kind of. This is the last batch of finished progress pics I have. I’m a bit further ahead (working on the engine bay currently) but would prefer to get that pretty wrapped up before I come back and share any updates about that. Obviously all of the work performed on the passenger rocker, lower qtr., door shell & skin, front fender, etc. was mirrored and duplicate on the driver side as well. No need to share pictures of the same process, except for one task: the driver door skin had a miss alignment of the lower body line. The top edge of the door was good, but the lower line was too far off. Similar to the front fender (which I did on the driver side also) I cut the lower portion of the skin off, grafted on a section, aligned it properly and TIG’d it all back together, pulled the skin off the shell to straighten it out as best as I could before eventually attaching it to the shell and gapping it like I showed on the passenger side.

When I’ve been working on the ‘58 Rambler, my time was spent in the engine bay mainly on the inner fenders. I added the rear hood latches, and needed to blend the inner fenders (that I had roughed out earlier in build…sorry, no good pics of them) around the latches and structure.
There are removable access covers to gain access to mounting the latches, as well as stuff to come.

Very nicely integrated. True work of art in the engine bay now.

Thanks guys, I’m really happy with how the “stuffed” engine bay is working out so far.
Attached are a few more pictures as I was cleaning up and working on the edges. I radiused the inner fender to fender edge to mimic the front hood edge. Also did a little transition area from the radiator cover to the inner fender. This area was tricky as I have to account for the hinge pocket. Not the most visually appealing, but the best I could manage I think in the end. I also closed off and made a hidden mount for the power steering reservoir under the driver side latch access panel.

Dan, perfect job. Does it remind me correctly of "Star Wars"? It has that design touch.

How do you plan to mount the corner cover panels? Magnets maybe?
