Wow! I wasn't expecting anything like this. Thanks, guys, and thanks to admin for the props.

I'm not done here yet. I've been getting some work done around the house but I still get a couple hours in on the Cadillac now and then. Right now I'm working on making a pair of rocker moldings out of 20ga polished stainless. I'll post the pictures when I'm a little further along.
Thanks again.

Jack,
You did an amazing job. I enjoyed following along and I learned a lot.
Amazing what you have done in a home garage with limited tools.

Thank you for allowing me to follow along on your journey

By the numbers, I have the proportions of the body to roof heights correct, 2:1 but visually the roof looks tall. The problem is, being black the body seems to kind of disappear below the body side moldings. Also the body rolls inward beginning just below the side moldings compounding the problem. I decided to put stainless rocker moldings on to visually establish just how far down the body goes. Sort of calling out "Hey, there's more down here!"

Besides, this is a Series 62, it originally had rocker moldings.
Below is a mock up of the shape I'll need. The piece of scrap aluminum has the correct bends. The slash cut on the left is the angle of the front fender wheel opening. The shape on the right is where the rear skirt will be, and the template board is where the molding will be bent outward to match the contour of the lower body. The two extra pieces of template are where the relief cuts will be made.

The last few inches of the molding will have to tuck in so the skirt can drop down without hitting the molding.
I started with two pieces of 20ga #8 polished 304. 90 inches long. I used the brake to bend the 90 degree bend, the 30 degree tip along the top edge, and another 90 degree downward bend along the bottom to fit up to the pinch weld then tightened the bends up on the bead roller.

Next I cut and trimmed the rear edge for the left side molding. I wrapped my large tuck tool with some 1/8" thick rubber sheeting and taped that down with some electrical tape so I could use it to gently put the bends in that bring the face of the molding in against the body to clear the skirt.

I had to do a little smoothing with a leather mallet and dolly but it didn't need much.

This is as far as I got. I started smoothing out the welds but I'll hold off on polishing until the fabricating is finished. There will be an outward bend somewhere around where the fine line tape is but I need to get it up on the car to see exactly where.

More beautiful metal work! I think that this is a most appropriate bit of trim to define that line, for the reasons you mentioned.

Late to the game Jack but congratulations on a well deserved MSOTY. It's been a great thread to follow and a real inspiration.
