Hello from Cranberry Country; South Carver, MA
Hi, It's great to have a site to throw out thoughts and get right answers. I'm a beginner at metal work. I was directed here from the '39-47Dodge truck website.
I retired in 2001, but now have to work part time to pay for my '38 Dodge RC panel truck restoration. I have to do a lot of patch work around the bottom due to rot. (bottom bead including wheel wells, rear corners due to a hit and run, etc) Right now I'm fabricating the "beam" from the bottom of the B pillar to the other B pillar that holds up the bed. The most intimidating task for me is taking out the bangs and dents from the fenders. The metal supplier I trade with didn't have a break to bend sheet metal so I am welding two angle irons together to replace the beam. There is a lot of work to do and lots of questions. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Fran Aldrich |
