Very cool, Will. That's fantastic news and must have been quite a surprise.

You may have addressed this already- does Mr Rhine plan to campaign the car in vintage series, static display, ? I'm wondering about engine/driveline and what configuration it will be.

There are some details that need to be addressed, and the motor is the most prevalent one. He is a stickler for authenticity, particularly regarding the heads, etc.. on the motor.

More pictures from today. Bill brought the latest of the decals that he had made previously. More pictures will follow. Bill asked that I sign the dash of the car as a way of establishing the authenticity of his restoration. I could not have been more proud to do that.

I drove the Humvee to the track this morning and the picture shows me standing with two New York federal detective agents and one ranking department member of the famed New York Police Department. They all asked that their names not be mentioned. WOW-stories they told about the corruption in the New York city political establishment.

Hi,

Nice looking car. An Aerodynamic question, did the rear window cause flow separation from air coming off the roof and inherent drag? Did you have a solution or does the rear wing help solve the issue ?

It was my opinion that the air leaving the rear of the roof did 'disperse' in a turbulent manner, and not evenly apply to the rear spoiler. Most attempted to deal with it by using all the 'tolerance' permitted from the roof template to lower the rear section of the roof. (a maximum of about 7/16").

In addition to that, I chose to spray clear adhesive across the front of the roof at the windshield back about 4" wide and spray on glass beads from the sandblast cabinet, then wipe off the excess when the adhesive dried. It is my opinion that the 'roughness' turned the air leaving the top of the windshield making the boundary layer hold tighter to the roof and then using bondo, put the slightest 1/16" of uprise at the tail end of the roof (spoiler) to turn the roof air down onto the rear spoiler.

Have no way of validating my aerodynamic thinking, but it was good for a tenth of a second per lap at Daytona and a tenth and a half second per lap at Talladega. As it turned out NASCAR was not as big a fan of that idea as I was.

Here are a few pictures that Bill provided me about the restoration process, the unloading of the car and some track photos. I was pretty detailed oriented at that time, and Bill did a GREAT job of replicating all the details that I could see. He used my rear spoiler blades, oil fitting bulkheads, upper windshield clips and the headrest support.
