Default Can someone 'cut & bend' 2 - 16ga angles ?

Hello; it sounds weird, but I need somewhat of a favor from anyone on
the forum that can help me... just a little? I lost my life long connection
of 40 years at Central Steel & Wire here in Chicago, the other shop I used

for things like this has closed up because of the virus

I am in need of 2, 16ga angles cut and bent - 1" x 2" x 36" (+/- by 1/16"th) to finish the repairs of the subrails in my 1930 Model A' coupe.

I currently have no 16ga materials and don't want to buy a 4'x8' sheet,
and if I did I have no way of shearing it . Anyone available for a quick
project, I'll pay you for your time & materials and the shipping
Thanks in advance, Steve Hackel 708-687-4183 s.hackel@att.net

Default Repurposing suggestion

Have you thought about cutting off what you need from a larger cross section square or rectangular tube? A cut-off wheel or two on a grinder will separate what you need.

If all you are looking for is 1x2, maybe even a heavy steel shelf can provide the right gauge.

I was scrapping last month and always have my eye open for possible assets at the scrap yard. Where I live half the yards will sell back for cash, and my favorite 2 yards actually set aside pieces likely to attract another life.

I needed new running boards for my 4x4 pickup, I scored a couple pallet rack horizontals that were approximately 2x6 in boxed section. Not sure of the gauge, too late to check as I welded end caps on before installing them.

I always see plenty of steel shelving in the yards, but some companies sell new shelving components separately as well.

Steve , If you would like I have two five foot angles bent up that will work .
I bent them after I read your post ,just to be able to use my newly purchased metal slitter. Drop a line for more info. Don

Thanks for all the help and suggestions here. Been in touch with Don, and as soon as we can make arrangements between the farm crops and the two
weekends I was committed to, I'll have my angles ! Thanks for your help!
