Default Power Hammer Builder From California, Greetings!!

I am writing this post in order to appease and convince the all knowing, all powerful, metal shaping forum overlords of my worthiness.

I build Yoder style power hammers here in California and am currently involved in further development of the mechanisms and drives for these machines.

I will be undertaking a new build of making and developing a Pullmax style reciprocating machine. Since I stumbled upon AllMetalShaping and saw some wonderful topics in the search I figured Id love to be a part of sharing information in the metal working field.

There is an old saying "No man is your friend, No man is your enemy, Every man your teacher." I believe this is true, and I also think it never hurts to have a few friends along the way that share similar interests.

Fritz

Welcome Fritz to AllMetalShaping. No all knowing all powerful overlords here. Just a few unappreciated folks who spend a lot of time and their own money trying to keep the site free from riff-raff and spammers. Consider the requirements your price of admission to the group.

Well Kerry, everyone's contributions is appreciated in my book, writing an intro post is a small price to pay for the opportunity.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

We agree! tell us about your machines? There are several folks here who have built Yoder clones and the discussion about power hammers is pretty robust. Same for reciprocating machines.

Hey Gareth, heres a few pics of the recent PH build. I did away with the old school square dovetail dies and all that nasty shimming. It uses pinned round dies. This one runs on a DC motor, all future builds I will most likely use a VFD.

The entire machine is 3/8" plate with 1/2" reinforcement where the arms bolt to. There are no cast parts except for the motor pulley

These pics might give some of you guys out there some ideas on your own build.

Nice looking machine Fritz. Feel free to place and ad in the business classifieds. People are going to want to know prices and availability.
