Nice post Dirk, there are some nice video's!
I do think that often he makes it to difficult... also, the 'Blecharbeiten 12 - Oldtimer Schweller restaurieren', i don't want that on my car!

Planishing Hammer
In this video
http://www.oldtimer-tv.com/oldtimer/....php?Seite=107 he uses a planishing hammer with something around the upper die. Looks like a grommet, but I'm not sure what it is. Perhaps if I understood German, it would help. Grommet to quiet the tool? Does the die have a movable, self aligning, face? Further along in the videos he uses a number of Eckold machines to make a door skin for a BMW. Has some power hammer type work. Like the layout line and profile gauges he uses. Also, it's interesting to watch the english wheel work that he's using. The amount of movement visible in the video can give you an idea of the pro's and con's on various ewheel designs. John |

My H.F. planishing hammer has a rubber grommet on it's upper die. Not sure what it's for either, but it doesn't seem to be hurting anything so I just left it alone.

The rubber grommet act's sort of like training wheels on a bicycle. It keeps you from tipping the sheet up into the edge of the upper die.

I don't know much about anything but in the film where he is using the polished forming head to form the edge of the shape, (looks like a mc tank side), He keeps hammering on dolly. This just seems wrong. He's trying to curl the metal around the head. This would require shrinking. He seems to be stretching the metal instead. Maybe this is the German version of OCC. These guys are a bit rough on the metal I think.
