Default Unbelievable welding speed ?

My God, the speed of this welding is just about unbelievable. I have no idea about the structural soundness of the welds but the beads look so consistent even on rusted metal ! Could they have sped this up with camera work or is it real Anybody know about this welding process ? ~ John Buchtenkirch

I have been seeing vids like that for a few years now. But haven't seen much good info on it or cost. Looks almost fantasy like.

Sped up quite a bit. Notice what audio there is, has quite a lot of distortion. Industrial units are capable of 40-400 ipm, but you are looking at 25KW units or larger.

I have a guess on this, as it does not seem that outrageous.
It is a new type of gun/torch with large advertising printing on it ...
and the slick presentation means "sales" ...

My son does this sort of production welding .... he is a "hotdog" at it -( to borrow an old snow-skiing complement/rating.) I

In this part of the country production still rules. That company supplies their range of fiber lasers on little CoBots doing production part assembly. Tube and flange assy's like a fuel tank filler pipes that were just a few year back oven brazed are now cold nuked with fiber lasers.

Just like CoBots, Fiber lasers will continue to get cheaper and cheaper until you won't think twice about getting one for your shop. Look where additive machining is today, almost everyone has some level of 3D printer.

Yes - dragging home an old Bridgeport for the home shop ... and parking it next to the squirt printer is a new norm.
Additive and subtractive - next to each udder.

I remember seeing this going around nearly a year ago when someone showed me a similar video.
I sent them back this to view a realistic demostration.

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.

Good link Marcus.

Impressive demonstration but i would like to see a 180 degree bend test on the coupons.

Think I will stick with the oxy and MIG for now

Cheers Charlie
