Hogtown Meet, 2014
HOGTOWN MEET
APRIL 26 - 27, 2014 The third annual Hogtown Metal Shaping Meet will be held at my work place on the last weekend of April this year. I will bring all my shaping equipment from home but we could always use more shaping stuff such as ewheels, hammers, bags, stumps, etc. Last year we had a poor turn out of English Wheels. This is one piece of equipment extremely important to the meet and I'd hope to see more effort to get machines here. I have manual shrinkers and stretchers and also the Baleigh power shrinker/stretcher to play with. We have enough TIG welders so we're OK there. BBQ lunch will be served both days. Both days we will get started at 9:00 AM and go until everyone's burned out or just sick of listening to me. The meet will be held in the Markham Road/Finch Avenue area in Scarborough. Hopefully, we'll be able to clear the shop floor of production items to have some space to fit a couple of cars inside. If you have a large project let me know as the time gets closer, I can see if we can have enough space for everything. If you'd like to attend please reply to this thread so I have an idea of how many are coming. Address: 2721 Markham Rd. #25 Scarborough, ON M1X 1L5 Thanks, Last edited by 123pugsy; 04-10-2014 at 09:07 AM. |

Hi Ed. Don't worry about being a noob. These meets are directly aimed at getting you new guys on your way. I'll let you know if I need you to "import" something for me. |

Hey Pugsy, I did not know that was where you are from. I should have stopped at your place a few years ago. I bought an 800 pound parts washer in Little Current in the northern area of the Georgian Bay. Took that very large ferry to Tobermory, ate lunch in Owen Sound and headed south and got on the 401 near Guelph and went down to my friends house near London, and took a 2-day metal shaping class from John Crossley of trident Tools.
If I had known I was so close to you, I would have stopped by and let you borrow a couple pieces of wood to help you in holding your panels straight.

Two days
Pugsy; count me in. I've got a Mittler Bros 36" power bead roller that I could bring and one heavy old stump if they are of any use for the weekend. I've got one of the light weight Princess Auto planishing hammers. It moves a bit of metal but mostly "polishes". Just got my Hoosier hammer like yours in the mail the other day. I could bring it for show and tell time I'll be there to absorb as much as I can!! Bit of a "noob" also. Let me know what you would like me to bring.

Bring all the tools you can carry. I think we're gonna have a good turn out this year. Bead rollers are good. I've got one but not much tooling. |
