It appears these machines are still affordable in the rest of the world. Only one I have seen locally in months is selling for $9k.

Naw, they are around. Probably more expensive in CA. I sold a nice P5 with a center tool holder for $3500 last year. Bennett Chapman got a P5 for considerably less than that but we had to drive to NY to get it.

Demand in CA has pretty well dried up local sources and driven up prices. If you want a deal, you're probably going to have to have one shipped. but shipping isn't as bad as you might think.

It's good to know they can still be found for reasonable prices on this side of the pond, guess I just need to look in more places to get the deals.

I have been looking for a genuine Beverly for years, always a dollar short or a day late. Got a tip recently from one of my brothers re: ebay searches, i.e. to look deeper for underrepresented or missrepresented items, even grossly mispelled items. Not everyone who has stuff to sell knows what it is, or if they do, they sometimes don't know how to represent it properly. So I tried my brother's suggestion last month with Craigslist. I followed up on a very vague ad with no details, one I would normally have just glossed over. The end result was that I got a genuine B-3 (!) for $150 and a bench stake plate for $50, my buddy with me got the Pexto stakes for 50 each, but had to buy the set of 7.....(dang!) All were in VG condition, btw.

My other brother will often post item wanted ads in the local free advert paper, he's found people sit on things and suddenly he presents a hassle -free way to unload it , and he has made several good buys this way.
