Default Novice machinist / metal worker in Wylie Tx.

Hello All,

I'm a hobbyist welder, machinist. I've rebuilt a couple of lathes, a Van Norman Mill. I'm working on an Atlas 7A shaper.

I live North East of Dallas, Texas in a small town called Wylie. I have a 3 car workshop where I machine, weld metal and build wood projects for my grown kids, nieces and nephews.

The sheet metal work I've done so far looks like something got run over on the road side. I'm looking to learn.

The project that brought me here was a 1950's era address card cabinet.
I bought the cabinet at the swap meet. It looks like it was used to hold address cards back in the day. It has "Elliot Address" embossed on the front of every drawer. I like the cabinet and the drawer fronts. But the drawers themselves are odd shaped and have lots of through holes. I would like to replace the drawers with simple U-shaped channels with a wire edge or false wire edge alone the top edge and a riveted back panel.

I would really like to be able to make sheet metal with sexy curves, but I don't have a project in mind ... yet.

Evan

Hello Evan and welcome to the site.

Do you have a picture of what you want to make?
