Just thinking if I were to duplicate your task, would a taper make up for the loss of material from the cutting process ????
Hi Marc

Yes the lines taper, were ever possible I put my cut lines on an angle this gives me zero gap and then I can fusion weld the panel together.

Hi Scott
Very nicely done!
Thanks for sharing a great series of pictures. A picture is worth a thousand words. Pictures speak all languages.

One question, was the cross member design required for packaging?

The detail pictures are great, but a couple shots from farther back might help some of us get a big picture perspective of the engine to vehicle arrangement.

Thanks for sharing

Steve

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.

Sorry Steve when you work on something for so long you start to think every one else know what is going on with the project

I put the bend in the cross tube with the intention of routing the exhaust under the sump to the passengers side of the car (right hand drive) and down through the chassis K members. I was going to do this because a lack of room on the drivers side due to steering shafts, starter motor, brake booster etc.
Now I have the cab on the chassis I have worked out there is a lot of room between the outside face of the chassis rail and the inside edge of the cab so I will probably run the exhaust through there.
My plan is to have nothing hanging lower than the chassis rails.
I hope that makes thing a bit clearer.
