Welcome to the forum Alden.

Contrary to what one would think; forming thinner materials will be more frustrating than using something a bit heavier. Especially on armor where you will need to maintain shapes and relationships between jointed and moving parts.

I'd suggest 18 gauge which is readily available.

Hello Alden, here is a link to some history and inspiration...

http://m.youtube.com/index?&desktop_...?v=pqoh0okQ6Ho

A very good Armourer here in the UK is Robert Stokewood he is also a film maker he has lots of how to videos on YouTube. I have communicated with him quite a bit, he seems a nice guy and very skilled.
