Default Redneck Roundup 2021

We are only 12 days from the start of our annual event. The event will start the 26th to the 28th. Dan Pate and Mike Yurko are in charge of the breakfasts and lunches which will be at 8:00 and 12:00. The event will begin at 9:00 and run all day until around 5:30 when dinner will be served. Tim Mitchell and David Talley will be in charge of the dinners and if you were here the past two years the food is one of the strongholds of the meet. David is taking this year to a new level with a "feast" on Friday night with shovel steaks, half a pig, chicken, fresh vegetables and special dips and desserts. This would not be possible without the generosity of friends and neighbors who give their time and money to provide this service for us. When you arrive on Thursday morning make sure that you check in and sign a release form and fill out a name tag. We are expecting 65 people each day so your cooperation would be appreciated. This year we have 10 people who have volunteered to give seminars on many different skills of metalshaping. Some of the classes will be on basic metalshaping, Pullmax tips and instruction, Eckold tips and instruction, English wheel instruction and tips, use of the Air Hammer, bead rollers, tipping tools, riviting and welding with aluminum, brass, stainless steel and steel. If anyone has a question or needs help there will be someone here that can help you. Please bring your own safety equipment, gloves, goggles etc. and a few general hand tools. I have tools but I don't have enough for every one. This events purpose is to learn and work with many other people in different areas of metalshaping and to build lasting friendships. This is my 9th year with the group and have learned more in this time than the previous 39 years in the business. If you have any questions or have a special interest or subject you want to know about let me know before the meet so we can try to address it. I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

Hi Jim
Thanks for posting this as a heads up!

The Roundup is not a government funded free bee!
When you go to a restaurant for a meal these days they are not cheap. You would not expect to get a free meal at the restaurant so why would you expect it to be free at this gathering. There will be good food and lots of it. Not many meals today are less than $15.00

Many of you have taken classes on metalshaping and know that there is a price to pay for your education. There will be a wealth of knowledge available to you at this gathering. Please show your appreciation when you see the donation container. $$$$$$$$$

Jim is graciously closing down his Restoration business for close to a week, if you consider the cleaning, set up, reorganizing, etc that is required to put on this event. please step up and help out where you can. We can share in the wealth of knowledge and we can also share in the work. There are many tasks that don’t require metalshaping expertise. Sweeping the floor, taking out trash, and I’m sure many more. Just ask Jim where you can help!

Can’ t wait to see the good friends i have met at gathering like this over the past 20 years. Hope to meet new friends and and share shaping skills and tools.
See you soon.

Steve

Well johnny, I'm about 1 1/4 handed so between us we'll make one decent shaper. I'm headed up Monday to see if I can help get ready. Jim, let me know if I need to bring tools etc.

For the meet?

Also
I’m try to book a room somewhere. Is there any recommendations?
Good, bad no way in hell you should stay there.
My wife will be with me and she has some standards.

2260 Polly Adams Road 37019 in Belfast, Tenn

One caution, Jim's shop sits back off the road on a gravel driveway. Watch for the street number on the mailbox. It's easy to miss.

Lewisburg, TN is the city a few miles north. Every motel in the world is there. Pick your poison.

I don't THINK there is a event hotel. And I don't know where everyone stays. I commute home.
