Default Yossi from Binyamina (Israel)

Greetings to one and all. My name is Yossi (Hebrew for Joe - my middle name) and I live in Binyamina, Israel. For those of you who know the country at bit, Binyamina is about 2/3 of the way between Tel Aviv and Haifa, and a bit inland (parallel to Caesarea).

Born and raised in the US of A (Baltimore) and moved here 30 odd years ago. It's a crazy place, but where isn't these days.

I'm a very technical hands-on guy and like to understand how things work (would rather read Scientific American and IEEE Spectrum than sports Illustrated). I try to fix most things myself before calling a "professional".

BS in agricultural engineering from the University of Maryland. Too many people were majoring in electrical engineering at the time (early '80s), so I went for something different. Worked out well since AgE includes a bit of everything - mechanical, civil, electrical, etc. While the mechanical engineers were doing stress tests on steel, we were testing apples (to find out how roughly you can handle them without bruising).

Ended up working as a technical writer (documentation manager - more impressive), which is in demand in this hi tech country. It's amazing how many smart people can't put words together in an intelligible fashion. No one on this forum of course.

I joined the forum with the hopes of learning some metalworking terminology for documentation I'm editing. I suspect that I'll learn more interesting stuff as well.

Shalom Yossi and a warm welcome. Love by your amazing country.

You've come to the right place to learn metal shaping.

All the best, Manny

Welcome, Yossi.
I loved being in Israel many years ago.
I hope you find success and joy in the metal.
Aum, Shalom,
