Hello all,

Tom Doudna from Gillette, WY.

I am hoping to lurk here for a while and learn some things before I ask any questions that prove to have obvious answers.

I have been a heavy equipment and stationary engine mechanic for most of my career. A few years back they promoted me into management so now I am a cubical dweller.

My dad was a machinist and I have been interested in machine tool work, welding and fabrication for pretty much all my life. I have a pretty respectable machine shop.

My son is an auto mechanic and is very much into building up project cars. We have done the heavy fabrication stuff like making motor mounts, brackets, adapters, and the like for a long time. We kind of have a bug to expand into the sheet metal work and take on some more traditional street rod type projects.

I can do basic body and paint work like replacing quarter panels and patching rust. The truck I am working on now got new floor pans. What I don't know much about is fabricating the panels from scratch.

Looking forward to learning from you guys.
