I WOULD NOT SEND any money to the website. I have my doubts that anyone is actively tending to the business function of the site. Money may still be accepted, but at this point nothing has been coming out since October-November 2013.

We do not know how the courts are dealing with Tim's estate, whether or not there is an executor, whether or not other creditors have already seized assets, whether or not there is a dispute in probate court, etc. The lack of simple communication and updates suggests that matters are completely disorganized and no one is dedicated to completing Tim's vision.

DO NOT send any further money.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't expect we'll ever hear anything more about the book series or plans to make things right from Mr. Barton's family. My e-mails have all gone unanswered. I know life goes on but you would think someone would have wanted to contact us by now.

That is so true ,Ben..

I hardly never, preorder anything.And now I did , 5,6,7,and the dvd..
Sadly, this will give a stain, on Timīs book series.
And I ainīt fine with this matter, but , life goes on..And lesson learned.
Still, this sucks..

There has to be an executor of the estate.
Burbank CA I think.

First step I imagine would be locate and contact them.

To settle an estate and dispurse the remaining funds
don't the debts have to be paid first.

When I settled my Mom's estate in PA. I had to take adds out in the local papers so any possible debt could be settled.

As a group we should notify any government agency in CA that handles
these things. Probate court?

I like others prepaid so I expect the courtesy of a response from the family.

Isn't probate for large estates?

My Dad just died - admittedly in England so the rules may well be different -
and his "estate" was considered too small for probate. I think it needed to be 1 million pounds in the UK.

Regardless, Tim's family are ignoring all attempts from pre-paid customers to get information. Information is not dependent on courts or probate.

This situation does not smell good.

The website is down, so I think we have our answer from the family!

Didn't the website say this was a non profit organization?

I think we would get farther looking into the status of the organization, but I would not know where to start.

Any ideas?

Remnants of the site are still online as of this moment, I think someone stopped paying the web host.

You can search for some corporate info about Autofuturist, Inc. here:

Default www.autofuturist.org Site down

I, like others, paid up front and received the first 4...... you know what's next.

Just tried to go to www.autofuturist.org and the site is now down.

I imagine that others, as I have done, paid by card or by Paypal.

Before going through what could possibly become a long, drawn out process, is there anyone here in Banking that could point us in the right direction as far as claiming a partial refund from the card issuer/Paypal?

As is the case of most here, the money is no great issue and I would pay extra to get the remaining books and DVD but to have no response from the family/executors I consider to be ignorant for want of a better word.

I think that this whole scenario will make me more cautious when dealing with individual traders in the future and certainly make me act more promptly as far as pursuing a refund is concerned, despite some peoples rose tinted or misguided views of whoever will be dealing with a similar situation,

Just tried the above site, chose a book, went to checkout, chose to pay by Paypal and it took me to Paypals log in so it seems that payments are still being processed. Needless to say, I did not complete.
