Default Ryan of the great white north.

I guess I will start off with a little about myself.

My name is Ryan and I am from British Columbia, Canada. I am 24 years old and over the last two or so years I have grown increasingly more interested on metal shaping. I am a first year fabricator/fitter (heavy plate and structual). I have a heavy background in Automotive; building, racing and mainly braking cars . On the side, I have a hobby'est shop where I build/restore and modify cars for myself/friends/family.

Why do I want to be a member here? What are my goals?

Really it is quite simple. I am gettig back into building old hotrods/streetrods/ratrods. When in the process of building my 47 ford sedan coupe, I was faced with many metal working challanges. Most of wich ended up with a coat of body filler because:
A. I did not have the knoledge to properly work the material.
B. A replacement panel was not available.
C. I did not have the knoledge to create a new panel.

I do not expect to read a piece of paper and expect to go out to my shop, and recreate a panel like Peter Tommasini is able too. This work is an art, it takes many years to learn the way metal will react to certian processes and where and how to apply.

I feel I have gotten to a point that I have many things I could create or re-create with the skills I am lacking.

My goals are to learn the art of metal shaping, although I will probably be doing so untill the day I am no longer here. I would love to start off with recreating small patch panels for my many builds, and one day be able to alter/create my own panels if needed.
