Default Hello!

Hi everyone

I've joined to learn more about metal forming processes, and to share what little I've learnt so far.

In my day job as an architect I've been lucky enough to work on a project where we've used pressed metal as cladding (made by other people far more skilled than us!) and it's something I'd like to repeat and learn more about. Understanding the processes is fundamental to designing something that is feasible. Here is a mock-up of that project, which is currently being built in London:

It is a combination of 1mm and 2mm brass sheet, with the dark areas patinated to a grey black.

I am also very interested to learn about die struck metal forming, for jewellery and small scale motorcycle parts. I've recently started metal engraving as a hobby and from what I've read this is the best way to prepare the metal and reproduce designs. Being only a hobbyist it is difficult to find expert knowledge on something like that so I'm hoping to learn more here. If anyone knows a good place to start, be it books or somewhere on this forum I'd be very grateful for tips

Cheers

David
