Hi Guys,
I came accross this site while looking for a metal shapping course in the UK. I restore old Volvos as a hobby, Amazon and a P1800. I have a small workshop in Aberdeen, Scotland where I have both my cars, couple of welders, lathe, stretcher/shrinker etc. I did an apprenticeship in fitting/machining/welding at a bauxite mine at Weipa in Australia, then mech eng at Central Qld Uni. Have always had an interest in making and fixing stuff, especially in metal. I now want to make more complicated panels so want to do a metal shaping course and learn the basics of using an English wheel, swagger etc. Anyway that's pretty much me so I look forward to reading the excellent posts here on the forum... Sounds like you have a nice set-up and shop. We like pictures around here and some pictures of your work on those cars would be interesting.
Welcome!!

Thanks for the welcomes...
Had a look to see what pics I had and attached some of my workshop, I've done it up this year and yep that is a woodstove and a sofa, nice to have a warm clean area. Aberdeen is the oil capital of Europe so industrial space is hard to come by so I always pinch myself even to have the workshop I have. The guys in the US and Oz will probably have a giggle at the size but you wouldn't believe how much a big workshop would cost here. I still have more to do in my workshop this year but first I want to do a metal shaping course as I've never used an English wheel and I want to learn the basics before I buy one. The cars are a 66 Amazon which I'm still working on at the moment doing the suspension and painting the underneath. I re-built the engine and she is about 150hp now. The other is a 71 P1800E, I've done loads of bodywork to as it was a rust bucket; chassis rails, outriggers, new floor, sills, inner wing etc etc. I still have a long way to go with the P1800 as it is a big project.
