Hello everyone. Im Doug and I live in Decatur Alabama. I found a link to this site when I became a member at MetalMeet so I thought I would join here too. I want to learn to shape Metal by hand without the aid of a lot of machines. I do a little stick welding but it aint nothing to brag about. I also plan to attend a tech school welding class as soon as I can get enrolled. I am layed off right now so I figure why not get a little schooling in while I have time off. I wont be able to post any shaping advice but I do hope to learn some things here and at metalmeet and someday show off some shaping projects. The government says I can attend school full time and still draw my unemployment check and they will pay the school cost so its a win/win thing for me.

Doug, welcome to AllMetalShaping, always glad to see a new member wanting to learn. Stick welding on thin sheet metal is very difficult at best, take the time to learn the other welding processes that are better suited to sheet metal. Oxy/acet welding would be a good process to learn. If you learn to gas weld it will help you with the other processes.
