hello, I'm Sanford and I make neon signs and sculpture.. I form lots of materials; glass, plastic, & metals are the majority...
Most neon signs are made of aluminum so I've worked with it a bit, mainly braking and mig welding. I've formed an aluminum battery box for my '73 triumph tiger. Compound curves from a ball peen hammer and a 2x6, came out sweet.. although on one of the trial fits, I started attaching the components and didn't quite finish the part.. I'll get it when I tear it all down for paint.. Asheville area is my home... Beautiful place... check out some of my stuff at www.lightfantasticneon.com ... Oh yea, I'm here to learn! I wanna weld with gas & create great shapes to light up with neon... ..working with heat to manipulate glass, plastic, & steel, is an entertaining challenge.. Bringing materials to their "plastic" point then reshaping is just plain fun.. pounding on stuff is fun too.. Sanford |
