HI Folks. My name is Stuart Jordan aka SAJ. I am 71, live in Auckland NZ up the side of an extincti volcano with a coast to coast view of the city. I own a company manufacturing fibreglass resins, body fillers, polishes etc. I have a good mechanical workshop for my old-car hobby and I collect old machine tools for this shop. I have done basic panel beating, not much shaping, but it is a favourite for me to watch and I intend to learn more.
I work full time in my company but will pull back a bit and indulge my hobbies soon.
Years ago I ran a company doing metal punching, spinning, pressing, welding and fabrication. But again no real shaping and forming.
I have various welders including a Russian Multiplaz. My stick welding is useless, I think because one eye is completely blind and I can never tell where the end of the rod is. But my oxy, MIG and plasma welding is OK.
Are there any other successful stick arc welders on the forum? If so maybe I need to try harder!

Hi Stuart. Welcome! I'm just down the road from you in a paddock in Manurewa. View is not as good I don't know much about shaping either, but there are lots of very clever people on here who are very giving of their time and knowledge. I'm also lucky to have two local metalshaping mates who are gods of this stuff and both inspire and mentor me. What projects do you have?

HI Skintkarter. Nice to hear from you. Currently I am working on two model A Ford's. I have to reform the damaged mudguard on one and repair rust in the rear of the other. Plus a couple of machine guards to make for my factory.

Hi Stuart,
Good to hear from you. I'm in Ngatea- pretty close to you. I know all about your products. Turbo bog and Newtech we used about 20 years ago when i was an apprentice panelbeater.
I'm useless at stick welding unless its full contact and i have two eyes! Not very good for sheet metal anyway i reckon.
Bring on the Model A!

HI Philraly. Nice to hear from you. I know Ngatea Panel beaters. Good website too. I started with Bond o fil way back in the.the 60's at Stewart Foot and Co. We made Rocol lubricants, GUD filters, Duplicolor, Turtle wax, Redex and all sorts of well-known products that are gone from NZ now. My main products now are Builders Bog, Turbo, Newtech, and polyester resins for fibreglass. Shows my age eh?
But I have time to extend my panel working skills now I am older and this is what I really enjoy.
