As a short hello, my name is Clint Button. I'm a full-time sculptor apprenticed under family and working primarily in stone for the memorial and monument industry. Visit my website http://CarolinaSculptureStudio.com to see more of what I do ranging from abstract to reproductions and portrait work.
Most work is in granite, but I work in whatever media the client requests including a wide variety of stone, bronze and other media. Some projects are reproduced indirectly from client-approved models that I produce and others are carved or sculpted directly in the final medium whether fabricated or monolitjic. I prefer monolithic work in granite. I have carved wood since age 6. Panel work has been a hobby interest for a long time, oriented to my Italian bikes and 1960's Fords. Shapes and accurate, predictable results have always interested me, so looking forward to connecting with more like-minded folks here. Maybe my processes and experience can also provide resource for some here. No cell, only email and landline listed on website. Clint

Welcome AC. IMPRESSIVE work on your website!
In addition to the auto and bike sheet metal that dominates metal shaping, we have quite a few artists that work in sheet. Imo, developing the hand and eye coordination is much, much more difficult than learning the techniques of shaping sheet metal. Clearly, you have those down in spades.

as well as for my vehicle projects. A finished piece in alloy or even sheet steel would be far more portable and durable than the same in stone and still more intrinsic to me than bronze.
I use pneumatic hand machines for all my carving. I only use diamond tools for sawing, rough stock removal and polishing when needed. Adapting my hand machines and making new hammer-headed chisels for metal flowing is coming along as time allows. I'm very familiar with model and pattern work for stone and art foundry use but look forward to learning more about developing patterns and forms that will work and stand up to use for hammer forming and metal flowing. Been following Ron Fournier, Faye Butler, Steve Davis, Ron Covell, Kent White and Marcel &Luc de Lay for decades at this point. Got a British car/bike magazine back in 87(?) with Jay Leno's cobra in it, with article about making it in WI. That was quite an influence. Immediate vehicle projects include items for my 67 428 Ford Galaxie, Moto Guzzi V7 Sport and Ducati 250 n/c Scrambler.

Hi Clint,
I sculpt in aluminium if you are interested, there's a picture or two on here somewhere. The granite work is fabulous. Very impressed.

Still obligated with the inlaws for a couple more days and looking for something polite to do until I can get back into the shop.
Probably will do a lot of searching here now that I've got better access so will look for your work. Thanks for the heads-up.
