Default Newbie from Kansas

Hello everyone, Robert Wingerter here (real name). When I posted "newbie" - that is newbie to everything! New to AllMetalShaping & new to shaping metal. I am a computer geek by trade, but love old cars and the old world craftsmanship of an era gone by. I apologize upfront that I'm probably going to get more out of this site than I can put in - although I'm sure I'll be able to pass along plenty of rookie mistakes for other newbies as I begin this journey.

I've owned/restored over 30 american (mostly muscle) collector cars, but in recent years, I started getting into European classics & related craftsmanship. I'm on this forum specifically to learn techniques, tips, & tools so I can make a new hood for my current project -- a 1962 AC Ace replica. I drive my cars a lot and can't afford $500,000 daily drivers, so a replica works for me. BUT, I not a fan of bad fiberglass. If the hood goes well, then I'll replace the trunk. Who know, maybe then I'll tackle doors and if I get really crazy, I may even try a fender in the distant future. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks to all in advance and I hope this old dog can learn new tricks.
