Hi everyone. My name is Peter. I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. My main hobby outside of juggling family life has been RC aircraft for many years; aerobatic planes, racing & related competitions. I’ve messed around with composites & taught myself Cad for my own designs. But I’ve also had a strong itch to get into model engineering & metalworking for some time. I have a 14x40 metal lathe & RF-45 mill, slowly collecting tooling along the way. Thus far I’ve only made, small simple gadgets & parts. But my goal now is to focus more effort into this activity, improve my metal-working skills & eventually build a scale-ish IC engine (probably a radial). So many of the skills I see on forums like this will be both inspirational & educational. Nice to meet you all!

Here is my model engine design I'm slowly picking away at. Its based on a Kinner B5. A real one exists in a local aero-museum & I managed to order some documentation out of USA. It's probably biting off way more than I can chew, but.. I'm going to try anyway. As you can see, its a cad 'pipe dream' right now, but even getting this far was fun. I subscribe to some miniature engine forums for similar inspiration. On top of getting proficient on lathe & mill, I figure I will need to mess with welding, brazing & silver soldering here & there. Thats kind of how I stumbled into this nice forum. So you will receive a fair share of dumb questions. ![]()

Here is an RC pattern (arerobatic) plane of my own design. I was heavy into flying & competing late 90's up to early 2000's. Some of mine were flown at National & International level. Jeez time flies, they look like antiques already. Anyway, messed around learning composites & molding, made a few do-dads & gadgets along the way.
