Default Newbie from Johns Creek Georgia

Hi - I am from north Georgia and currently live in Johns Creek area of Atlanta. I took Kent White's (the tin man) intensive course in metal shaping back in 2002. I am after many misfires starting back doing metal work again. I have two projects I am working on. I have a 1962 Jaguar Mark II sedan and a Triumph TR4a. They have some rust but good engines in them. I was thinking of rebuilding the Triumph with 3003 Aluminum body parts as I have not liked the Moss Motors replacement parts fit.
I also have taken EAA course on metal working. I have a MIG welder and I have gas torches for Aluminum welding. I saw this website in one of my web searches for making a buck to form parts on. Looks like you'll have a pretty good group of people here.
I love cars and would like some time in the future to build a custom body and frame and put a 21st century engine in it. I like some of the 1950's and 1960's classic designs from Italy and England. A type C Jag comes to mind as does a XK 150 fixed head coupe. Of course I like some of the old Ferrari 166 designs from Touring also.

Welcome to AllMetalShaping Rusty. One of the things I wish I had considered was rebodying a TR6 instead of building the chassis/engine on my roadster. I'd have been driving it for the past two years instead of it still being in the shop.

My TR4a was running well until the water pump blew out. I got the water pump off and then had to move without getting it back on. I then had to move the car five times since then. Now I am finally getting back to work on the car.
- I did not like the replacement sheet metal parts I purchased. I can sum it up is several words - "did not fit".
- Kerry, I feel your pain on not being able to drive your TR6. They are fun cars. I hope to have mine running by the end of this summer. As for the body work I figure I will take it a body part at a time. I like the work I have seen from these gentlemen - they are an inspiration for me.

Ha, I just moved my '71 TR-6 (again) last weekend. It is in much worse shape than when I moved it the last time. Sitting doesn't do a vehicle good...

Storage does not do well for Triumphs. I am building a shop so I can work on my cars and control humidity and dust in it. The humidity is bad right now in the Atlanta area. I only have one good tire on mine. Rest have dry rotted due to the sun, heat and age. I have a spare tire from Coker and can put on but not a spare wire wheel. So I guess my next purchase is a wire wheel and more tires.
