Default Newbie intro

Hi, my name is Richard and while I have built more than a dozen street rods/customs, I have handed the sheet metal work to others. As a retirement project, I purchased a 57 IHC A100 with rusted floors and proceeded to mount the entire cab on a cut down 2008 Colorado firewall, floor pan and complete chassis and driveline. Lots of welding and metal work to accomplish this and now just a few more bits to finish it off.

I already have my next project in sight; a scratch built replica of a 20’s speedster, probably along the lines of a Bugatti Type 35. Since these were of an aluminum sheet metal body, I would like to try my hand at using the same and have lots to learn. I have a bead roller, and all the typical hand and power tools, but will be focusing more on purchasing/building an English Wheel, planishing hammers, and metal shrinker/stretcher.

I’ll probably lurk more than comment, but am not shy from asking questions.
