Default Hi!

Hi! I'm Peter. I found your forum while I was researching something about the sheet metal bodywork I am going to be faced with in restoring my 1966 Chev Suburban Truck. I've always been interested in sheet metal work and have done some limited bodywork in the way, way past at the beginning of my career. I am currently organdizing(sic) my shop to do metalwork. Since I am rather a newbie novice at sheet metal shaping (beginning 101 level), this forum has an awesome overwhelming wealth of info and new inspiration in my interests. Dunno' if I can seriously contribute to the overwhelming expertise of the existing members for quite some time ... I am in serious awe of the skill and depth of knowledge of the senior members of this site. I can certainly add encouragement and appreciation of what this site, members, and projects have to offer ... To me this is so valuable, I wouldn't hesitate to offer a reasonable membership fee.

Regards,
Peter B

Peter, welcome, and thanks for stopping by to say hello.

We love to answer questions, and even rehash the old ones, because it simply makes us better crafters. In time, likely you can help another soul by answering questions and sharing your expierience.

We like pics on this site, love to see what folk are doing and how they solve simmlar dilemmas.

Again, welcome. and dont be afraid to ask or participate in any of the discussions.

Marty

Peter, welcome, hope we can help you learn metal shaping. Marty is right on with what he said. I takes time to learn this craft and you will make mistakes and produce some scrap. That is all part of the learning experience. Thanks for joining us here.

Default Thanks for the warm welcome!

Thanks, guys, for the warm welcome!

I'm seriously clearing out space in my shop and getting organdized (sic) for making replacement panels for the truck. Somehow, no matter how big I make my shop, I always seem to fill it up to the rafters.

Later, when I gain some skills and appropriate tools and ... if I live that long, I may try fabricating an entire body for the car I've dreamed about for half my life.

I aspire, in time, to be good enough to pass on the good stuff to others. I am no stranger to making scrap -- but usually persistent enough to succeed for the stuff that matters. And thanks to the digital age, I've got a camera. I liked the links to the image sizing software on the stickies.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.
