Heya gang! I'm a mechanical engineer over here in Portland Oregon. Or at least I was! I'm on a hiatus in between jobs for a month or so, and I've got a good deal of projects to work on. My brother and I pooled our money and sunk it into a hobby shop, we have an old bridgeport, lathe, mig, tig, and plasma cutter. I'm looking to learn more about sheet metal shaping and the tools involved. Hopefully I can use my spare time and the local steelyard's offcut yard to put together some nice tools to help me on my car projects. I have a 1968 Buick Sportwagon, with all the nice glass and a bunch of rusted out window frames that I have had since I was about 14. I've been reading a bunch on how to do things properly when I finally start cutting. I also have a 1965 Corvair, a Corsa that had its 140 swapped out for a 110 some decades before I got it. It also needs work. I've done a fair amount of amateur fab when I was a college student thanks to the Society of Automotive Engineers' collegiate competitions, Formula and Baja flavor, and I'd like to try a few more things in that vein. I love the sorts of places where you can get real experience from people who have been doing these sorts of things for decades, and hope to learn a lot from these forums. Cheers!
